Panama Rainforest Rain Forest Tours National Parks
Activities - Exploring
Panama boasts a large number of very varied eco-systems in a relatively small area, and what is
better still, is that it has not been overrun by mainstream tourism. Rainforest clad volcanoes,
beautiful tropical beaches and lowland rainforest each have its own special ambiance and natural
treasures to offer. A paradise for birders, wildlife watchers, hikers and divers alike.
Guided Resort Walks: Skilled friendly guides will share their expert knowledge on the unique
flora and wildlife of Bocas's beautiful rainforest-from the famous Red Frog to the two different
species of monkey. The Red Frog Rain Forest can be explored from the floor to the canopy. It boasts
numerous spring-fed waterfalls and vast array of some of the rarest species of flora and fauna in the world.
National Park Cave tours: Panama has a remarkable National Park System, covering almost 25% of its
territory. The Province of Bocas del Toro is contiguous with the Limon Province of Costa Rica, and both
contain limestone along the Caribbean Coast. In places the limestone is karstic, as on Isla Colon and
other Islands in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. The caves are shallow, near sea level, and copiously
decorated in place.
National Park guided walks: In the National Marine Park, Tours are always better when you go with someone who knows what they are
talking about. We'll get you to that person, and you will love what you learn.
Wildlife
Within the province of Bocas del Toro there exists a wide variety of habitats including lagoons,
mangroves, estuaries, coral reefs, ocean coastal waters, and sandy beaches, all of which are
important ecosystems that serve as a source of food, migration, and nesting for the Leatherback,
Hawksbill, Green and Loggerhead Turtles.
Bird Watching: Panama is one of the best birding spots in the world. In fact, in one place in
Panama 300+ species of birds were spotted in a single day by the Audubon Society. Panama is one of
the richest biodiversity hot spots in the world. In a relatively small area the landscape offers
incredible geological variation, which provides habitats for a myriad of different species. It is a
paradise for birdwatchers and any other nature enthusiast. The tour begins with a preparatory talk
about the geography and animal life of the area by our expert guide. During the tour you'll have the
opportunity to see and hear Trogons, Antbirds, Forest Wrens, Puffbirds, Tanagers, Parrots, Mot-mots
and many other bird species.
